Supporting Children

Serving our Neighbors in Jesus' Name

Congregations for Children (C4C)

C4C, a state-wide initiative of The United Methodist Church, focuses on reflecting the love of Christ to our “neighbors” by helping children in public schools who are living in poverty. Swansboro UMC’s primary partnership is with Silverdale Elementary School in Maysville, NC.

C4C’s areas of focus include

  • Supporting K-3 literacy
  • Helping with basic needs
  • Encouraging parental involvement

Volunteers are vital to helping in classrooms, special events, and projects during the school year. Some examples:

  • Volunteers can sign up to assist in a classroom regularly
  • Sign up to be a prayer pal for school staff
  • Assist the volunteers with special events
  • Assist with gardening at the school
  • Donate to the school supply drive, children’s book drive, or at other times when the coordinator has other projects; you can help with those if you like
  • Sign up to be on the clothing closet team.

The Refuge
