Supporting Children

Serving our Neighbors in Jesus' Name

Congregations for Children (C4C) – a state-wide initiative of The United Methodist Church focused on reflecting the love of Christ to our “neighbors” by helping children in public schools who are living in poverty. Swansboro UMC’s primary partnership is with Silverdale Elementary School in Maysville, NC.

C4C’s areas of focus include

  • Supporting K-3 literacy
  • Helping with basic needs
  • Encouraging parental involvement

Volunteers are vital to helping in classrooms, special events, and projects during the school year. Some examples:

  • Lunch buddies
  • Reading to groups/classes
  • Assisting a teacher in the classroom
  • Occasional lunch duty
  • Emergency clothing supply helpers
  • Attend/help with special events
  • Special service projects and donations
  • Assist teachers with extra-curricular clubs
  • Tutoring
  • Test proctors

Contact Peggy Stolzenberg if interested in volunteering.
