COVID-19 Extended Lent Schedule
A Message from Pastor Kevin: “Dear Friends, every day brings news of how our community and world are seeking to respond to COVID-19. Please know that our church and leadership team is striving to find new ways to be faithful during this uncertain season. All in-person worship and regular gatherings have been postponed until further notice. During this Extended Lent, we want to share ways you can worship, connect, serve and give. Lent is often a time to try new spiritual disciplines and prayer practices, so I invite you to discover some of these while we are also praticing a completely new pratice – physical distancing – which for now is one way to care for each other and help prevent community spread of this virus. Whatever Sunday we are able to gather in-person again will be our Easter! Please feel free to return to this page regularly for updates, news, and information. We will be updating it often. May God’s peace that has the power to calm seas and command winds be with us all even through this storm.” – Grace and Peace, Pastor Kevin

Ways to Worship
Worship is at the heart of what we do and it is difficult to be worshipping at home and without the benefit of gathering in-person. Find ways to turn your home into a place of worship and make sure to spend daily time in prayer and scripture reflection. If you have difficulty with setting up worship via the internet, let us know how we can help.
Sundays, 8:30 am – Morning Prayer lead each week by pastors, laity or guest preachers via ZOOM – Click this link to join (there is a waiting room if you get there before the host)
Extended Lenten Prayer Resource – we are currently putting together an 8-week prayer and Scripture reading resource to help you with your daily worship and prayer from home.
Ways to Connect
Are you a member of a Sunday School Class or small group? Decide together to check-in, call, email and/or send cards to those in your group. Here are some other ways to connect:
Daily Facebook Posts – interact with us via Facebook each day with ways to comment on responses.
Phone Prayer Partners – would you like to be connected to a daily or weekly phone prayer partner that can spend a few minutes with you in prayer via phone? Sign up via our webform here.
Youth Sunday Nights – via ZOOM.
Ways to Serve
Reach out to your neighbors, friends and loved ones and check on anyone who God may bring to mind or lay on your heart. Call the church if you know of specific needs or services that are lacking during this crisis. In addition, here are some other ways to serve:
Food Distribution – Onslow County will be offering pre-bagged food for drive-by pickup from our church. We are looking for 5-10 volunteers to help with this service. If you would like to help contact Terry Proper or Yana Frantz. Food distribution will begin on Thursday, April 2, 2020, from 11 am-1 pm.
Phone Tree volunteers – We are blessed to have a full volunteer team making calls to check in on our church family. If you are interested in being on the backup list to call others, check in on them, and pray for them, please sign up with the volunteer form below.
Food Delivery – Would you be willing to help deliver food to families in our community that are food insecure during this crisis?
Meals on Wheels – Would you like to help deliver meals? Would you like to order a meal? Contact Robert Lenthall at email@example.com or 910-352-8511.
Serve Volunteer – can you help get groceries or medications for the homebound? Do you have other skills or forms of assistance you would like to offer?
Want to volunteer – Sign up.
Need Help – Please fill out this form and someone will be in contact with you.
Ways to Give
Giving during this time is critical to helping us continue ministry while we are unable to take up any tithes and offerings in-person. Anything you can do will help us keep the doors open and operating to serve you and the community around us.
Mail – send checks to 665 W. Corbett Ave. Swansboro, NC 28584. If you would like us to send you or deliver offering envelopes to you, please contact the church office.
Online Giving – Give through our Website (Set up a one-time gift or a reoccurring gift to be withdrawn each week or month).
Direct Pay – from your banking bill pay option – more information here If you need assistance, please call Carol Ferry at the church office to set it up.
Volunteer Pick-Up – Yes, we can make this happen also! If you are uncomfortable mailing in your tithes and offerings, we have a “saddlebag team” who will come to you. We will even bring you a jar of SUMC peanuts and our prayer resource!
